The term health food tends to conjure up images of taste-bud offending concoctions that look like the sludge on your lawn mower after trimming the grass on a damp day. Or powders that bear little semblance to food at all except when mixed with water (and even then it is debatable). Or any host of consumer products with claims such as CONTAINS NO DAIRY, CORN, GLUTEN, WHEAT, NUTS, ANIMAL PRODUCTS, HYDROGENATED OIL OR TASTE! The term health food definitely brings with it some stereotypes; unfortunately, those stereotypes can keep a lot of people away from food that might be beneficial for health.

It was a good day when I realized that many of the foods I loved were on Doug's Phase 1 diet. For instance, I love steak (Doug introduced me to grass-fed steak though, which IS healthy for you, despite what conventional wisdom teaches about red meat...) and all other varieties of red meat.  I love salmon and tuna. (Apologies extended to you vegans and vegetarians, I'm definitely a carnivore though.) I love almonds and cashews, and every other member of the nut family. I could probably live on avocados. Once I realized that these and many other foods, although not labeled health foods necessarily, were healthy, I realized that eating healthy is something I could get in to.

My paradigms have definitely shifted from when I was a teenager; I'm sure I probably thought anything related to health was lame because teenagers tend to think everything is lame. Now, I relish a healthy meal not only because of the pleasure in eating it, but because I feel so good afterwards. Still, I understand the aversion people have to health food. For most people, it brings to mind the long haired, un-showered, unshaved hippie vegans that perhaps popularized the idea of healthy eating in the beginning. (Again, no offense here if this is you - I've definitely had shoulder length hair, worn out plenty of flip-flops and listened to my share of rock 'n roll.) But if you are new to this whole health eating/health living thing, realize that it is bigger than the earthy, new age stereotypes that are often associated with it. And you can definitely still be a carnivore.

I am just waking up to Doug and show after a Chiropractor I went to for help with fall pollen allergies, took me off all grains and dairy. Of course, we had an early freeze, and I am not sure how the diet affected the allergies. He sent me to a Deflaming online site, but they are pretty limited on specific help. Have been following for going on 3 months now, but have found Doug and find differences in recommendations....Was wondering why Doug only lists green apples? Red bad? What about the nitrates in bacon? I ordered his "Eating your way to good Health" but am just getting into it. Are 100% juices made from concentrate in refrigerated portion of groceries still good for you? One pomgranite costs $2 and over. So making some of these fresh are prohibitive to make fresh juice. Is checking your body ph important?
Well, I'll start with these, hoping for some answers and very grateful. Am getting a lot of info that seems confusing to me. Thanks for any help..

Hi joint-heir, Keep watching Know The Cause! I "found" Doug back in March 2007, and my life willl never be the same, thank God!!!! Green apples are on Doug's Phase One "diet" because they are lower in sugar than red apples. Stay away from nitrites and nitrates, you can find bacon without it. Just remember juices are loaded with sugar and in Phase One you are really trying to get as much sugar as possible out of your diet. You will be amazed at how good you will feel!!!!! Just keep watching and learning, it will all "click" soon!
I thank God for Doug everyday! If you have a specific question or questions
Doug now does a call in show #469-402-0101 at one oclock. These times will be changing so just keep checking the website. Everyone should know this information! Enjoy your journey!!!!!

Hello again joint-heir, How long you stay on the Phase diets is up to you....
Depending on how you feel...... Keep watching KTC....you and I and all of us
will keep learning so much!!!! Here's to feeling fantastic!!!!!
Remember: when you first start the phase one plan you may feel a little worse, it's called the herxheimer reaction, very normal, because you are
getting rid of the little buggers that make you feel so bad (the mycotoxins),but when that passes, won't take long....a few days usually,
headache,etc...possible...you will begin to feel better and better!

Hi joint-heir
If you follow the Phase 1 for a month or so and start feeling well, you will know you found the cause of your problems. Stick with it...even if you have a day of not feeling so well, this is caused by die-off of the fungus. I have followed Phase 1 for about 3 years now...IT WORKS!!
Also, watch the webcasts and listen to Doug on his live call-in webcasts. He can help you!!
Sincerely,
Terri McCann

Dolly, curing an infection is always easiest when you "know the cause."  It is my opinion that both male and female bladder infections are often caused by the transfer of an infectious organism, bacteria or fungus, from one partner to another.  Remember that men can grow a fungus called a Dermatophyte on their skin and once this is transfered to a female, it is very difficult to eradicate.
If this is the case, please protect yourself from germ transfer for several months while you are getting better. Lamisil is a good prescriptive antifungal that rids the skin and nails of fungus and this is sometimes good for the man to take. Unsweetened cranberry juice and prevention of infection is best for the female. I'd dilute the juice with cleaned water 1:2 and drink it 3X's daily for a week or two. I'd also swallow 2 olive leaf extract caps (Seagate brand), which have very potent antibiotic properties, with each glass of cranberry juice for a few weeks. Always share this information with your doctor, but this might really help. Thanks for your inquiry.

Wow, we had Doug himself on? lol Good morning all!
Ok, I'm about ready to switch from the Noflame (no grains, no dairy) to Phase 1. But I see Thanksgiving coming up this week and my love is for the stuffing and the noodles..aach!! But will limit myself to much less than usual and then Friday go back. Does one day set you back quite a ways? Maybe I could do without.
Also, on supplements, as I've been listening, I would add something else. Now I am up to 18 supplements a day! Is there anyway to cut these down or combine in one any of them? I still haven't got to several I think I need! What is most important? I know you guys who have been following for a while can answer probably as well as Doug. I'm getting all my water quota just taking pills!!
I definitely have more energy, but my eyes are still bothering me. Could it be from mold, mildew in the basement of our house? We had water come in and the bottom of the unfinished walls( plaster board) has mildew all over it for about a foot. I used bleach mixture on it. Now I hear vinegar is the better way. We cannot afford to have it repaired right. Advice?
Thanks to all who answer the questions...Deanie

I happened to have seen Doug Kaufmann's show, "Know the Cause" when I saw it while channel surfing. He made a lot of sense to me. My wife and I want to get healthy, I have plenty of issues, she - not so much. My biggest problem is headaches. Have been to way too many doctors with no results. I am hoping Phase 1 will help with this. Could they be caused by fungus, mold or yeast that Mr Kaufmann talks so much about?

i would like to start the phase1 diet. I heard that if one has kidney disease this would not be a good diet to go on, as far as I know I don't have kidney disease, But I have had kidney stones, kidney cyst's also have bone spurs in knees and bone syst in knee with arthritis starting to set in.

I also have enlarged prostate. From what I have heard on ktc fungus could be the cause of all my symptoms. Thank you in advance for any and all help.

Can you eat sausage and bell peppers? things like that. Is there any hope fore me ?

Started Beta Glucan NSC24 100 and after about six months developed thyroid problems. Doctor said my immune system attacked my thyroid. Went
off Beta Glucan and went on throid medication. Off thyroid medication now but afraid to start Beta Glucan again. Also, went for a recent check up and since I'm over 50 now she recommended a colonoscopy. Is this really necessary? Any comments.
