The swine flu, or the H1N1 virus, continues to win it's share of media attention. I wrote a blog a few months back about what a joke I thought the whole event was, and how when you look at the actual numbers of who the virus has affected and to what extent, you find out that the media has really made a mountain out of an anthill.

As of today, there have been 40,617 confirmed cases of H1N1 infection in the United States and it's territories, with a total of 263 people dying as a result, leaving us with a mortality rate of approximately 0.6%. The CDC estimates that anywhere from 5% to 20% of residents in the US contract the flu annually, resulting in more than 200,000 hospitalizations and averaging 36,000 deaths. Therefore, anywhere from 15 to 60 million people will get the flu, leaving us a mortality rate of 0.2% to %0.06. In neither of the cases of the seasonal strain or the H1N1 strain does the flu have a mortality rate of even 1% of the people infected! In other words, you have less than 1% chance of meeting your doom as the result of the flu, swine or otherwise!

I have never gotten a flu vaccine and never will. I believe that decision is an unalienable right. I bring this up because there may be certain groundwork laid to take that legal right from me and you, to make refusing a vaccine a criminal act subject to judicial punishment, and a certain journalist from Austria is doing everything in her power to expose the alleged plot to rob you of your health rights. Jane Burgermeister has filed criminal charges (check out this article HERE) against multiple pharmaceutical companies, members of the CDC, WTO, WHO, and various leaders in world governments for creating the H1N1 virus and releasing said virus into the population for the purpose of allowing the World Health Organization to declare a pandemic. In the event of a pandemic, Burgermeister claims that mandatory vaccination laws can be implemented in the US, and all control of the US could be placed into the hands of the UN and WHO. To refuse a vaccination would be a criminal act, punishable by quarantine in designated FEMA camps and imprisonment. Burgermeister goes on to claim that the vaccinations will be laced with toxins or biological agents, resulting in the death of millions of complacent vaccine recipients.

This case is, obviously, a very controversial conspiracy theory. I can't honestly believe that there is a plot by a secret group of highly connected individuals designed to wipe out most of the world's population via biological agents and take control over the world, although I'm sure plenty of innocent Germans said the same thing before Hitler came to power. Regardless, it sounds a little too James Bond-ish to me. I think the important thing to realize is that there IS the chance that your health freedoms could be at risk. This is where knowledge becomes power, and power in this country still lies in the hands of her people. Be involved - be informed. Write to your congressmen and your senators. Share good, informed knowledge with your neighbors and encourage them to be involved. Be an example by living a healthy lifestyle. Eat right, exercise, sleep enough, and supplement. Keep your immune system strong - it is probably a much more reliable defense than shady vaccines anyway.
