" After years of delay, EPA is aggressively moving forward by ordering the testing of a number of pesticide chemicals for hormone effects," said Steve Owens, assistant administrator of EPA's Office of Prevention, Pesticides, and Toxic Substances. "These new data will be carefully evaluated to help identify potential hormone disruptor chemicals."

Well, better late than never I guess. We've only been dousing our farmland in left over residue from WWII for the last 65 years. Nevertheless, it is a step in the right direction.

With literally tens of thousands of new synthetic chemicals released into our environment in the last hundred years, and with that number growing with each year, it will be impossible to test all of them for detrimental health effects. I still have to give the EPA kudos for stepping up. There is no telling what sort of resistance they met from Big Agra Business; lets just hope the millions of dollars that will undoubtedly be thrown at the EPA (by such ethical businesses as DOW and Monsanto. . .) won't sway the advance of good science. . .

It will most likely be funded by drug companies, unfortunately! Or Dow and Monsanto!

You know there is another thing the EPA should do a study and test on. I know some of you may think this is dumb but Effective Microorganism Formula's used in making fertilizers and soil conditioners needs more study.

It may be coincidence or a possible link. But since its first creation in 1973 and it progressive use over the last 35 years we have also seen the same growth of disease outbreaks around the world especially in areas where EM1's have been used.

Higa and Parrs in there 1993 paper on soil and environment state on page 7 that his em1 formula needs more observations because as well as creating good bacterias it can and has created bad bacterias.

One example of this was discovered when a Missionary utilizing em1 for low moisture mulch farming in Africa. In inadvertently created a E-coli bacteria that killed around 200 people and sickened many more. when the health ministry in this west central nation traced its origins it led them to the missionary farm where they were using em1. samples of their liquid fertilizer solution they made with em1 and pig manure was crawling with the exact E-coli bacteria.

I could not find a single critical or analytical article on EM1 and it's many formulas available. And that sent up a red flag for me. Because nothing is that to good to be true.

remember in each place of use the bacterial, fungal, molds and viral environment changes. Not to mention the manure used carries e-coli (al warm blooded animals have it), and then you must consider the handlers who may have diseases like influenza, Urinary tract infections kidney, hepatitis, common colds, salmonella and on and on. these changes can lead to a host of bad bacterias being produced under our noses without any knowledge that this Bacterial hodgepodge is created.
