Probiotic Bacteria Useful for Treating Both Chronic Diarrhea and Constipation

Many recent studies have reported that consuming probiotic bacteria like Lactobacillus or Bifidobacterium can be useful in treating many cases of chronic diarrhea or diarrhea predominant irritable bowel syndrome.  Probiotic bacteria may also be helpful in chronic constipation as well.  A review of 5 recent studies have reported that use of probiotic bacteria such as Lactobacillus casei, Bifidobacterium lactis and Escherichia coli Nissle was associated with more frequency bowel movements, better bowel movement consistency and less discomfort as compared to patients given placebo.

This research was published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology  2010; Jan 7;16(1):69-75.

Excellent information! I wish more people knew the benefits of Probiotics. Even more, I wish doctors knew and would then tell their patients!!!
When my daughter was in the hospital in Sept. 2007, not one medical person
mentioned probiotics, thank God I had "found" Doug in early 2007 and knew
that truth!~! Someday I will share my entire story!!! My daughter, now age 19
is doing wonderfully and very healthy! Thank you Doug Kaufmann! I sincerely
believe if I hadn't known what I knew, she may not be alive today!!!!!!!!!!!
Very sincerely,
